Christian Responsibility VS the American Way.
Last week was Worry VS Work. If you are not providing for yourself and your family, it is questionable if you are even a Christian.
A Christian Command to work is in direct conflict of the Entitlement mind set.
This Week is Worry VS Managing. Increasing your Responsibility.
The conflict is too many Christian especially men use Don’t Worry as an excuse to not manage better.
A hap-hazard approach VS a well thought out plan.
Seek First His Kingdom
[Mat 6:31-33 ESV] 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.
Matt 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
What does it look like to Seek God’s Kingdom and God’s Righteousness?
It’s an issue of priority and practice.
Which means the real issue is where your heart is? Do you really care about the right things?
The God things!
Don’t Worry, does not mean Don’t Be Responsible.
SEEK: Does not mean sit around and wait.
to seek in order to find
to seek a thing
to seek [in order to find out] by thinking, meditating, reasoning, to enquire into
to seek after, seek for, aim at, strive after
to seek i.e. require, demand
to crave, demand something from someone
It means Take time and energy to Chase God.
His Kingdom:
royal power, kingship, dominion, rule
not to be confused with an actual kingdom but rather the right or authority to rule over a kingdom
of the royal power of Jesus as the triumphant Messiah
of the royal power and dignity conferred on Christians in the Messiah's kingdom
a kingdom, the territory subject to the rule of a king
used in the N.T. to refer to the reign of the Messiah
His Righteousness:
in a broad sense: state of him who is as he ought to be, righteousness, the condition acceptable to God
the doctrine concerning the way in which man may attain a state approved of God
integrity, virtue, purity of life, rightness, correctness of thinking feeling, and acting
in a narrower sense, justice or the virtue which gives each his due
What does that look like in a normal day?
Let’s look at Monday.
Wake Up,
Get your coffee,
Before newspaper or Facebook.
1. Bible, Just Read It
2. Yield to King Jesus before you go about your business.
Tell Him you are His for His use and Glory
Pray; Ask Him to bring fruit to your labor.
Look at your 5 Orders: which one is in your plans for that day? What do you need to put there?
Which one of the following can you do that day?
Worship
Fellowship – is there another Christian that could use a visit from you?
Ministry – What can I do for our church this week?
Discipleship – 1. Today I will do a deeper Bible study. 2. Today, I will study with another Christian
Evangelism – Today someone needs to hear about Jesus.
* A Christian is always looking for better/wiser ways to manage what God has given you.
It’s your Christian duty to continue to mature/grow up/ get better.
Celebrate Growth Points & Then keep on growing up.
Gaining Wisdom
Being Sanctified.
[Phl 1:6 ESV] And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
[Heb 10:14 ESV] For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.
1. has perfected; Past Tense. It’s Done
2. Being Sanctified; Present Tense. He is doing it right now.
to render or acknowledge, or to be venerable or hallow
to separate from profane things and dedicate to God
consecrate things to God
dedicate people to God
to purify
to cleanse externally
to purify by expiation: free from the guilt of sin
to purify internally by renewing of the soul
Psalm of Moses.
[Psa 90:12 ESV] So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.
[Psa 90:13 ESV] Return, O LORD! How long? Have pity on your servants!
[Psa 90:14 ESV] Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
[Psa 90:15 ESV] Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, and for as many years as we have seen evil.
[Psa 90:16 ESV] Let your work be shown to your servants, and your glorious power to their children.
[Psa 90:17 ESV] Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!
Christians are to be looking to manage what they have well.
WHY? So, Then God will give us more to manage.
