Zombie Hunting; The Cure

Reanimated dead, the body is not really working. 

It’s an inversed version of a live person. 

Reminder of a zombie

Real life zombies.

[Eph 2:1 ESV] And you were dead in the trespasses and sins

[Eph 2:2 ESV] in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience--

[Eph 2:3 ESV] among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.

Zombies are better organized than the movies.  

The have leaders. “false teachers”

[2Ti 3:2 ESV] For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,

[2Ti 3:3 ESV] heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good,

[2Ti 3:4 ESV] treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

[2Ti 3:5 ESV] having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

[2Ti 3:6 ESV] For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions,

[2Ti 3:7 ESV] always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.

The cure for zombies:  2 Ingredients The Holy Spirit & The Gospel 

Regeneration or Rebirth

Definition of regeneration:  Greek word; paliggenesia

new birth, reproduction, renewal, recreation, regeneration

The Holy Spirit

Before and after; regeneration 

[Tit 3:3 ESV] For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.

[Tit 3:4 ESV] But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared,

[Tit 3:5 ESV] he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,

[Tit 3:6 ESV] whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

[Tit 3:7 ESV] so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Born Again is Regeneration: 

[Jhn 3:3 ESV] Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God."

[Jhn 3:5 ESV] Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

[Jhn 3:6 ESV] That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

[Jhn 3:7 ESV] Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'

[Jhn 3:8 ESV] The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."

God can bring a zombie to life. 

[Col 2:13 ESV] And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,

[Col 2:14 ESV] by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.

[Col 2:15 ESV] He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.

Even the Earth and the Heavens will be reborn:

[Mat 19:28 ESV] Jesus said to them, "Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Contextual for Israel but true for all. 

[Eze 36:26 ESV] And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

[Eze 36:27 ESV] And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

Caused us to be born again

[1Pe 1:3 ESV] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

[1Pe 1:4 ESV] to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,

[1Pe 1:5 ESV] who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Share the Gospel

[2Ti 4:1 ESV] I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:

[2Ti 4:2 ESV] preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.

[2Ti 4:3 ESV] For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,

[2Ti 4:4 ESV] and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.

The Great Commission 

[Mat 28:19 ESV] Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

[Mat 28:20 ESV] teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

So share the Gospel

[Rom 1:15 ESV] So I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome.

[Rom 1:16 ESV] For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

[Rom 1:17 ESV] For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, "The righteous shall live by faith."

Feet ready to tell the Gospel 

[Rom 10:13 ESV] For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

[Rom 10:14 ESV] How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

[Rom 10:15 ESV] And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!"

[Rom 10:16 ESV] But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?"

[Rom 10:17 ESV] So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Saves to Share the Gospel

[2Co 5:17 ESV] Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

[2Co 5:18 ESV] All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;

[2Co 5:19 ESV] that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

[2Co 5:20 ESV] Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

[2Co 5:21 ESV] For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Hunt the zombies! It’s the wise thing to do. 

[Pro 11:30 ESV] The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and whoever captures souls is wise.

[Jas 5:20 ESV] let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

Your Weapon: Use the Bible.

Hebrews 4:12  

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Functionally it looks like this. 

You share the Gospel, God does the work. 

[2Ti 2:24 ESV] And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil,

[2Ti 2:25 ESV] correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth,

[2Ti 2:26 ESV] and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.
