Jesus Greater Than Moses
Saturday May 31, 2014
Saturday May 31, 2014
The Apostle: a delegate, messenger, one sent forth with orders
And: High Priest;
Profess: objectively: profession [confession] i.e. what one professes [confesses]
[Heb 3:2 ESV] who was faithful to Him (God) who appointed Him (Jesus), just as Moses also was faithful in all God's house.
[Heb 3:3 ESV] For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses--as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself.
Jesus Greater than Moses: He is the Builder & The Son
[Heb 3:4 ESV] (For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.)
Careful what you worship.
[Rom 1:18 ESV] For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.
[Rom 1:19 ESV] For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.
[Rom 1:20 ESV] For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
[Rom 1:21 ESV] For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
[Rom 1:22 ESV] Claiming to be wise, they became fools,
Son greater than a servant.
[Heb 3:5 ESV] Now Moses was faithful in all God's house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later,
[Heb 3:6 ESV] but Christ is faithful over God's house as a son. And we are his house if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.
Boasting: That of which one glories or can glory, matter or ground of glorying
What is our Hope? The Gospel! Glory that Jesus saved you; an unworthy sinner.
The difference between boasting in religion/works and boasting in the Gospel
[Gal 6:14 ESV] But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
Boast = Glory!
[Psa 105:3 ESV] Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice!
Do not rebel against the Holy Spirit!
[Heb 3:7 ESV] Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, "Today, if you hear his voice,
[Heb 3:8 ESV] do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness,
[Heb 3:9 ESV] where your fathers put me to the test and saw my works for forty years.
[Heb 3:10 ESV] Therefore I was provoked with that generation, and said, 'They always go astray in their heart; they have not known my ways.'
He is quoting: Psalm 95.
[Psa 95:7 ESV] For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. Today, if you hear His voice,
[Psa 95:8 ESV] do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness,
[Psa 95:9 ESV] when your fathers put me to the test and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work.
[Psa 95:10 ESV] For forty years I loathed that generation and said, "They are a people who go astray in their heart, and they have not known my ways."
The Israelites in the wilderness had Moses, The tabernacle, God as a pillar of fire & smoke. They could hear the voice of God, See Him, He Provided food & water miraculously. Clothes never wore out. God’s constant interaction.
Consequence of hating on God. No Sabbath Rest, See Chapter 4.
[Heb 3:11 ESV/ Psa 95:11] As I swore in my wrath, 'They shall not enter my rest.'"
Reflect on your own heart.
[Heb 3:12 ESV] Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God.
[Heb 3:13 ESV] But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called "today," that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
The Sacred Information of the Gospel; united, steadfast.
[Heb 3:14 ESV] For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.
[Heb 3:15 ESV] As it is said, "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion."
[Heb 3:16 ESV] For who were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not all those who left Egypt led by Moses?
[Heb 3:17 ESV] And with whom was he provoked for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
[Heb 3:18 ESV] And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient?
[Heb 3:19 ESV] So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.
Unbelief is a sin and the consequence is eternal punishment.
[Jhn 3:16 ESV] "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
[Jhn 3:17 ESV] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
[Jhn 3:18 ESV] Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
The Garden of Eden all over again.
[Jhn 3:19 ESV] And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.
[Jhn 3:20 ESV] For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed.
Hearing the Gospel:
[Rom 10:14 ESV] How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
[Rom 10:15 ESV] And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!"
[Rom 10:16 ESV] But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?"
[Rom 10:17 ESV] So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Do you run towards the Holy, Exposing Light or Away from it?
[Jhn 3:21 ESV] But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God."

Hebrews 2; Pay Attention
Saturday May 17, 2014
Saturday May 17, 2014
The writer commands us to Pay Much Closer Attention.
[Heb 2:1 ESV] Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.
[Heb 2:2 ESV] For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution,
Pay Attention to this Great Salvation; Warning!
[Heb 2:3 ESV] how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation?
Mentioned again in Hebrews 10.
[Heb 10:28 ESV] Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses.
[Heb 10:29 ESV] How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace?
[Heb 10:30 ESV] For we know him who said, "Vengeance is mine; I will repay." And again, "The Lord will judge his people."
[Heb 10:31 ESV] It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
POINT: God Bore Witness To Jesus
[Heb 2:4 ESV] while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.
And Again, Jesus says about His Position.
[Jhn 5:31 ESV] If I alone bear witness about myself, my testimony is not true.
[Jhn 5:32 ESV] There is another who bears witness about me, and I know that the testimony that he bears about me is true.
[Jhn 5:33 ESV] You sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth.
[Jhn 5:34 ESV] Not that the testimony that I receive is from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved.
[Jhn 5:35 ESV] He was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.
[Jhn 5:36 ESV] But the testimony that I have is greater than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me.
[Jhn 5:37 ESV] And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen,
[Jhn 5:38 ESV] and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe the one whom he has sent.
[Jhn 5:39 ESV] You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me,
[Jhn 5:40 ESV] yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.
Hebrews 2:3 continued. . . “It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard,”
Declared by the Lord
[Luk 9:34 ESV] As he was saying these things, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.
[Luk 9:35 ESV] And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is my Son, my Chosen One; listen to him!"
[Luk 9:36 ESV] And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and told no one in those days anything of what they had seen.
The Testimony of God.
[1Jo 5:5 ESV] Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
[1Jo 5:6 ESV] This is he who came by water and blood--Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
[1Jo 5:7 ESV] For there are three that testify:
[1Jo 5:8 ESV] the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree.
[1Jo 5:9 ESV] If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son.
Peter Declares about the Testimony from God the Father.
[2Pe 1:16 ESV] For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
[2Pe 1:17 ESV] For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,"
[2Pe 1:18 ESV] we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain.
[2Pe 1:19 ESV] And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts,
[2Pe 1:20 ESV] knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation.
[2Pe 1:21 ESV] For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
The Creator experienced His Creation in the form of His Creatures.
[Heb 2:5 ESV] For it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking.
[Heb 2:6 ESV] It has been testified somewhere, "What is man, that you are mindful of him, or the son of man, that you care for him?
[Heb 2:7 ESV] You made him for a little while lower than the angels; you have crowned him with glory and honor,
[Heb 2:8 ESV] putting everything in subjection under his feet." Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him.
Jesus is Leading the way through the River of Death.
[Heb 2:9 ESV] But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
[Heb 2:10 ESV] For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.
Not a “purging” but Profound Leading.
We: Sinful being made sinless.
Jesus: Sinless experiencing the curse and the judgment of a sinner.
[Heb 2:11 ESV] For He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why He is not ashamed to call them brothers,
Friends of God:
[Jhn 15:15 ESV] No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.
[Heb 2:12 ESV] saying, "I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise."
Quoting Psalm 22! Many prophecies of the Christ are there.
[Psa 22:1 ESV] To the choirmaster: according to The Doe of the Dawn. A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning?
[Psa 22:7 ESV] All who see me mock me; they make mouths at me; they wag their heads;
[Psa 22:8 ESV] "He trusts in the LORD; let him deliver him; let him rescue him, for he delights in him!"
[Psa 22:16 ESV] For dogs encompass me; a company of evildoers encircles me; they have pierced my hands and feet--
[Psa 22:17 ESV] I can count all my bones-- they stare and gloat over me;
[Psa 22:18 ESV] they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots.
[Heb 2:13 ESV] And again, "I will put my trust in him." And again, "Behold, I and the children God has given me."
[Isa 8:18 ESV] Behold, I and the children whom the LORD has given me are signs and portents in Israel from the LORD of hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion.
[Heb 2:14 ESV] Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,
Power over death? Not the same as God’s power.
force, strength, . . . to break things.
Devil needs permission to break things.
[Job 1:9 ESV] Then Satan answered the LORD and said, "Does Job fear God for no reason?
[Job 1:10 ESV] Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.
[Job 1:11 ESV] But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face."
[Job 1:12 ESV] And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand." So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.
God’s Power is more than breaking things.
[Mat 10:28 ESV] And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Jesus saving us from death and slavery.
[Heb 2:15 ESV] and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.
[Heb 2:16 ESV] For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham.
[Heb 2:17 ESV] Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
Propitiation: to make favorably inclined; appease; conciliate.
[Heb 2:18 ESV] For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
The Perfect being subjected to an imperfect environment.
Then taking on the imperfection and being punished by God for it.
[2Co 5:21 ESV] For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Hebrews: The Absolute Supremacy of Christ
Saturday May 10, 2014
Saturday May 10, 2014
He was Jewish, He knew his Old Testament Very Well. He knew the Theological Impact of Jesus Christ.
It appears to have been written somewhere near Italy.
When was it written? Sometime before the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD
To whom & where, was it written? No one knows where but the audience is clear; Jewish Christians.
What kind of genre is this? It ends like a letter yet begins like a sermon. It is an If – Than kind of writing.
Filled with solid Theology. Chapters 1-10:18
Application of the Theology. 10:19-13
Theme: the absolute supremacy of Christ
Themes in Hebrews 1: Christ is God. The 2nd person of The Trinity.
Hebrews Chapter 1.
[Heb 1:1 ESV] Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets,
The Old Testament is evidence of the Miraculous.
28 different authors of the Old Testament.
Over 1000 years to write and compile.
The existence of this collection of writings should not be if it were simply “written by men”.
The mods to save information.
The rise and fall of world powers.
The worship of idols
Lower ‘g’ gods changed with the seasons. “house hold gods”.
The Continuity: Progressive Revelation of God.
The Message: Here is God’s Standard. You can’t keep God’s Standard, so here is a sacrificial system to keep God’s Wrath from breaking out.
However it wasn’t just ritual sacrifice. It had to be worshipful sacrifice.
[Psa 51:16 ESV] For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering.
[Psa 51:17 ESV] The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
[Psa 51:18 ESV] Do good to Zion in your good pleasure; build up the walls of Jerusalem;
[Psa 51:19 ESV] then will you delight in right sacrifices, in burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings; then bulls will be offered on your altar.
God only accepted sacrifices from those who Loved Him.
[Isa 1:2 ESV] Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for the LORD has spoken: "Children have I reared and brought up, but they have rebelled against me.
[Isa 1:11 ESV] "What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? says the LORD; I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed beasts; I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of goats.
[Isa 1:13 ESV] Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me. New moon and Sabbath and the calling of convocations-- I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly.
[Isa 1:14 ESV] Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates; they have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them.
[Isa 1:15 ESV] When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood.
[Isa 1:16 ESV] Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil,
[Isa 1:17 ESV] learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause.
God’s Son
[Heb 1:2 ESV] but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom (Christ) also he created the world.
Jesus is God. Sustains the Universe by His Word.
[Heb 1:3 ESV] He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.
After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
Purification: a cleansing, purification, a ritual purgation or washing
Superior to angels; 2nd Person of the Trinity,
[Heb 1:4 ESV] having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
[Heb 1:5 ESV] For to which of the angels did God ever say, "You are my Son, today I have begotten you"? Or again, "I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son"?
Angels Worship & Serve Him
[Heb 1:6 ESV] And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him."
[Heb 1:7 ESV] Of the angels he says, "He makes his angels winds, and his ministers a flame of fire."
But of the Son!
God, Eternal King, Just, Creator of the Universe, Eternal, Supreme Victor!
Eternal King
[Heb 1:8 ESV] But of the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.
Just King
[Heb 1:9 ESV] You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions."
Creator of the Universe
[Heb 1:10 ESV] And, "You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands;
Eternal
[Heb 1:11 ESV] they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment,
[Heb 1:12 ESV] like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end."
Supreme Victor
[Heb 1:13 ESV] And to which of the angels has he ever said, "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet"?
Angels serve those who will Inherit Salvation.
[Heb 1:14 ESV] Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?
We have got to keep our nose in our Bibles.
[Heb 2:1 ESV] Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.
[Heb 2:2 ESV] For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution,
[Heb 2:3 ESV] how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard,

The Law, The Resurrection, The Gospel

The Second time God gave Moses the 10 Commandments.
[Exo 20:1 ESV] And God spoke all these words, saying,
[Exo 20:2 ESV] "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
[Exo 20:3 ESV] "You shall have no other gods before me.
[Exo 20:4 ESV] "You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
[Exo 20:5 ESV] You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,
[Exo 20:6 ESV] but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.
[Exo 20:7 ESV] "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
[Exo 20:8 ESV] "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
[Exo 20:9 ESV] Six days you shall labor, and do all your work,
[Exo 20:10 ESV] but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates.
[Exo 20:11 ESV] For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
[Exo 20:12 ESV] "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.
[Exo 20:13 ESV] "You shall not murder.
[Exo 20:14 ESV] "You shall not commit adultery.
[Exo 20:15 ESV] "You shall not steal.
[Exo 20:16 ESV] "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
[Exo 20:17 ESV] "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's."
We All Broke The Law.
[Rom 3:9 ESV] What then? Are we Jews any better off? No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin,
[Rom 3:10 ESV] as it is written: "None is righteous, no, not one;
[Rom 3:18 ESV] "There is no fear of God before their eyes."
[Rom 3:19 ESV] Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God.
[Rom 3:20 ESV] For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.
[Rom 6:23 ESV] For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Because we broke God’s Laws, we are enemies of God and He is enemies of us.
Remember God does not owe us Mercy & Grace, He owes us Justice.
Wrath of God
[Jhn 3:36 ESV] Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. Implies pre-condition.
[Rom 1:18 ESV] For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.
[Rom 5:9 ESV] Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
How Can a Righteous God Satisfy His Own Justice?
Send a Sinless Substitute to receive His Wrath in our place.
So God The Father, Sent God The Son.
Sinless Christ
Jesus Did Not Break God’s Law.
[Heb 9:14 ESV] how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
[Heb 4:15 ESV] For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
[1Pe 2:22 ESV] He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth.
[1Jo 3:5 ESV] You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.
Christians are Commanded to tell others.
[2Co 5:18 ESV] All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;
[2Co 5:19 ESV] that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
[2Co 5:20 ESV] Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
[2Co 5:21 ESV] For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Wrath & Reconciliation.
[Rom 5:10 ESV] For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
[Rom 5:11 ESV] More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
The Cross
That is why John the Baptist proclaimed. . . . .
[Jhn 1:29 ESV] The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
The Cross is where Justice & Wrath meet Mercy & Grace.
Gods Wrath, Hate & Anger poured down on His Son.
Who was wearing your sins. And He died.
Paul talks about Resurrection. Antioch in Pisidia.
[Act 13:30 ESV] But God raised him from the dead,
[Act 13:31 ESV] and for many days he appeared to those who had come up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people.
[Act 13:32 ESV] And we bring you the good news that what God promised to the fathers,
[Act 13:33 ESV] this he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus, as also it is written in the second Psalm, "'You are my Son, today I have begotten you.'
[Act 13:34 ESV] And as for the fact that he raised him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, he has spoken in this way, "'I will give you the holy and sure blessings of David.'
[Act 13:35 ESV] Therefore he says also in another psalm, "'You will not let your Holy One see corruption.'
[Act 13:36 ESV] For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep and was laid with his fathers and saw corruption,
[Act 13:37 ESV] but he whom God raised up did not see corruption.
The Resurrection
[Jhn 11:25 ESV] Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,
[Jhn 11:26 ESV] and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?"
[Jhn 11:27 ESV] She said to him, "Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world."
The necessity of the Resurrection
[1Co 15:17 ESV] And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.
[1Co 15:18 ESV] Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
[1Co 15:19 ESV] If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.
[1Co 15:20 ESV] But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
The Resurrection Gives Us Hope!
[Phl 3:8 ESV] Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ
[Phl 3:9 ESV] and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith--
[Phl 3:10 ESV] that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,
[Phl 3:11 ESV] that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.
[Phl 3:12 ESV] Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.
Connection of the death & resurrection for you.
[Rom 6:3 ESV] Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
[Rom 6:4 ESV] We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
[Rom 6:5 ESV] For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
[Rom 6:6 ESV] We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.
[Rom 6:7 ESV] For one who has died has been set free from sin.
[Rom 6:8 ESV] Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.
Never Die Again
[Rom 6:9 ESV] We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.
[Rom 6:10 ESV] For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God.
Never Stop Living In The Gospel
[Rom 6:11 ESV] So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
[Rom 6:14 ESV] For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
[Rom 6:22 ESV] But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.
[Rom 6:23 ESV] For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Law, Grace The Truth
[Jhn 1:17 ESV] For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
Hope because of the resurrection
[1Pe 1:3 ESV] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
[1Pe 1:4 ESV] to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,
[1Pe 1:5 ESV] who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
[1Pe 1:6 ESV] In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,
