Jesus Greater Than Moses
Saturday May 31, 2014
Saturday May 31, 2014
The Apostle: a delegate, messenger, one sent forth with orders
And: High Priest;
Profess: objectively: profession [confession] i.e. what one professes [confesses]
[Heb 3:2 ESV] who was faithful to Him (God) who appointed Him (Jesus), just as Moses also was faithful in all God's house.
[Heb 3:3 ESV] For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses--as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself.
Jesus Greater than Moses: He is the Builder & The Son
[Heb 3:4 ESV] (For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.)
Careful what you worship.
[Rom 1:18 ESV] For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.
[Rom 1:19 ESV] For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.
[Rom 1:20 ESV] For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
[Rom 1:21 ESV] For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
[Rom 1:22 ESV] Claiming to be wise, they became fools,
Son greater than a servant.
[Heb 3:5 ESV] Now Moses was faithful in all God's house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later,
[Heb 3:6 ESV] but Christ is faithful over God's house as a son. And we are his house if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.
Boasting: That of which one glories or can glory, matter or ground of glorying
What is our Hope? The Gospel! Glory that Jesus saved you; an unworthy sinner.
The difference between boasting in religion/works and boasting in the Gospel
[Gal 6:14 ESV] But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
Boast = Glory!
[Psa 105:3 ESV] Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice!
Do not rebel against the Holy Spirit!
[Heb 3:7 ESV] Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, "Today, if you hear his voice,
[Heb 3:8 ESV] do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness,
[Heb 3:9 ESV] where your fathers put me to the test and saw my works for forty years.
[Heb 3:10 ESV] Therefore I was provoked with that generation, and said, 'They always go astray in their heart; they have not known my ways.'
He is quoting: Psalm 95.
[Psa 95:7 ESV] For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. Today, if you hear His voice,
[Psa 95:8 ESV] do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness,
[Psa 95:9 ESV] when your fathers put me to the test and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work.
[Psa 95:10 ESV] For forty years I loathed that generation and said, "They are a people who go astray in their heart, and they have not known my ways."
The Israelites in the wilderness had Moses, The tabernacle, God as a pillar of fire & smoke. They could hear the voice of God, See Him, He Provided food & water miraculously. Clothes never wore out. God’s constant interaction.
Consequence of hating on God. No Sabbath Rest, See Chapter 4.
[Heb 3:11 ESV/ Psa 95:11] As I swore in my wrath, 'They shall not enter my rest.'"
Reflect on your own heart.
[Heb 3:12 ESV] Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God.
[Heb 3:13 ESV] But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called "today," that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
The Sacred Information of the Gospel; united, steadfast.
[Heb 3:14 ESV] For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.
[Heb 3:15 ESV] As it is said, "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion."
[Heb 3:16 ESV] For who were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not all those who left Egypt led by Moses?
[Heb 3:17 ESV] And with whom was he provoked for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
[Heb 3:18 ESV] And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient?
[Heb 3:19 ESV] So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.
Unbelief is a sin and the consequence is eternal punishment.
[Jhn 3:16 ESV] "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
[Jhn 3:17 ESV] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
[Jhn 3:18 ESV] Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
The Garden of Eden all over again.
[Jhn 3:19 ESV] And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.
[Jhn 3:20 ESV] For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed.
Hearing the Gospel:
[Rom 10:14 ESV] How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
[Rom 10:15 ESV] And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!"
[Rom 10:16 ESV] But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?"
[Rom 10:17 ESV] So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Do you run towards the Holy, Exposing Light or Away from it?
[Jhn 3:21 ESV] But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God."

Hebrews 2; Pay Attention
Saturday May 17, 2014
Saturday May 17, 2014
The writer commands us to Pay Much Closer Attention.
[Heb 2:1 ESV] Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.
[Heb 2:2 ESV] For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution,
Pay Attention to this Great Salvation; Warning!
[Heb 2:3 ESV] how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation?
Mentioned again in Hebrews 10.
[Heb 10:28 ESV] Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses.
[Heb 10:29 ESV] How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace?
[Heb 10:30 ESV] For we know him who said, "Vengeance is mine; I will repay." And again, "The Lord will judge his people."
[Heb 10:31 ESV] It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
POINT: God Bore Witness To Jesus
[Heb 2:4 ESV] while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.
And Again, Jesus says about His Position.
[Jhn 5:31 ESV] If I alone bear witness about myself, my testimony is not true.
[Jhn 5:32 ESV] There is another who bears witness about me, and I know that the testimony that he bears about me is true.
[Jhn 5:33 ESV] You sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth.
[Jhn 5:34 ESV] Not that the testimony that I receive is from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved.
[Jhn 5:35 ESV] He was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.
[Jhn 5:36 ESV] But the testimony that I have is greater than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me.
[Jhn 5:37 ESV] And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen,
[Jhn 5:38 ESV] and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe the one whom he has sent.
[Jhn 5:39 ESV] You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me,
[Jhn 5:40 ESV] yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.
Hebrews 2:3 continued. . . “It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard,”
Declared by the Lord
[Luk 9:34 ESV] As he was saying these things, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.
[Luk 9:35 ESV] And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is my Son, my Chosen One; listen to him!"
[Luk 9:36 ESV] And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and told no one in those days anything of what they had seen.
The Testimony of God.
[1Jo 5:5 ESV] Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
[1Jo 5:6 ESV] This is he who came by water and blood--Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
[1Jo 5:7 ESV] For there are three that testify:
[1Jo 5:8 ESV] the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree.
[1Jo 5:9 ESV] If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son.
Peter Declares about the Testimony from God the Father.
[2Pe 1:16 ESV] For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
[2Pe 1:17 ESV] For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,"
[2Pe 1:18 ESV] we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain.
[2Pe 1:19 ESV] And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts,
[2Pe 1:20 ESV] knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation.
[2Pe 1:21 ESV] For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
The Creator experienced His Creation in the form of His Creatures.
[Heb 2:5 ESV] For it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking.
[Heb 2:6 ESV] It has been testified somewhere, "What is man, that you are mindful of him, or the son of man, that you care for him?
[Heb 2:7 ESV] You made him for a little while lower than the angels; you have crowned him with glory and honor,
[Heb 2:8 ESV] putting everything in subjection under his feet." Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him.
Jesus is Leading the way through the River of Death.
[Heb 2:9 ESV] But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
[Heb 2:10 ESV] For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.
Not a “purging” but Profound Leading.
We: Sinful being made sinless.
Jesus: Sinless experiencing the curse and the judgment of a sinner.
[Heb 2:11 ESV] For He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why He is not ashamed to call them brothers,
Friends of God:
[Jhn 15:15 ESV] No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.
[Heb 2:12 ESV] saying, "I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise."
Quoting Psalm 22! Many prophecies of the Christ are there.
[Psa 22:1 ESV] To the choirmaster: according to The Doe of the Dawn. A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning?
[Psa 22:7 ESV] All who see me mock me; they make mouths at me; they wag their heads;
[Psa 22:8 ESV] "He trusts in the LORD; let him deliver him; let him rescue him, for he delights in him!"
[Psa 22:16 ESV] For dogs encompass me; a company of evildoers encircles me; they have pierced my hands and feet--
[Psa 22:17 ESV] I can count all my bones-- they stare and gloat over me;
[Psa 22:18 ESV] they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots.
[Heb 2:13 ESV] And again, "I will put my trust in him." And again, "Behold, I and the children God has given me."
[Isa 8:18 ESV] Behold, I and the children whom the LORD has given me are signs and portents in Israel from the LORD of hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion.
[Heb 2:14 ESV] Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,
Power over death? Not the same as God’s power.
force, strength, . . . to break things.
Devil needs permission to break things.
[Job 1:9 ESV] Then Satan answered the LORD and said, "Does Job fear God for no reason?
[Job 1:10 ESV] Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.
[Job 1:11 ESV] But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face."
[Job 1:12 ESV] And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand." So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.
God’s Power is more than breaking things.
[Mat 10:28 ESV] And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Jesus saving us from death and slavery.
[Heb 2:15 ESV] and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.
[Heb 2:16 ESV] For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham.
[Heb 2:17 ESV] Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
Propitiation: to make favorably inclined; appease; conciliate.
[Heb 2:18 ESV] For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
The Perfect being subjected to an imperfect environment.
Then taking on the imperfection and being punished by God for it.
[2Co 5:21 ESV] For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Hebrews: The Absolute Supremacy of Christ
Saturday May 10, 2014
Saturday May 10, 2014
He was Jewish, He knew his Old Testament Very Well. He knew the Theological Impact of Jesus Christ.
It appears to have been written somewhere near Italy.
When was it written? Sometime before the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD
To whom & where, was it written? No one knows where but the audience is clear; Jewish Christians.
What kind of genre is this? It ends like a letter yet begins like a sermon. It is an If – Than kind of writing.
Filled with solid Theology. Chapters 1-10:18
Application of the Theology. 10:19-13
Theme: the absolute supremacy of Christ
Themes in Hebrews 1: Christ is God. The 2nd person of The Trinity.
Hebrews Chapter 1.
[Heb 1:1 ESV] Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets,
The Old Testament is evidence of the Miraculous.
28 different authors of the Old Testament.
Over 1000 years to write and compile.
The existence of this collection of writings should not be if it were simply “written by men”.
The mods to save information.
The rise and fall of world powers.
The worship of idols
Lower ‘g’ gods changed with the seasons. “house hold gods”.
The Continuity: Progressive Revelation of God.
The Message: Here is God’s Standard. You can’t keep God’s Standard, so here is a sacrificial system to keep God’s Wrath from breaking out.
However it wasn’t just ritual sacrifice. It had to be worshipful sacrifice.
[Psa 51:16 ESV] For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering.
[Psa 51:17 ESV] The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
[Psa 51:18 ESV] Do good to Zion in your good pleasure; build up the walls of Jerusalem;
[Psa 51:19 ESV] then will you delight in right sacrifices, in burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings; then bulls will be offered on your altar.
God only accepted sacrifices from those who Loved Him.
[Isa 1:2 ESV] Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for the LORD has spoken: "Children have I reared and brought up, but they have rebelled against me.
[Isa 1:11 ESV] "What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? says the LORD; I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed beasts; I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of goats.
[Isa 1:13 ESV] Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me. New moon and Sabbath and the calling of convocations-- I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly.
[Isa 1:14 ESV] Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates; they have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them.
[Isa 1:15 ESV] When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood.
[Isa 1:16 ESV] Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil,
[Isa 1:17 ESV] learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause.
God’s Son
[Heb 1:2 ESV] but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom (Christ) also he created the world.
Jesus is God. Sustains the Universe by His Word.
[Heb 1:3 ESV] He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.
After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
Purification: a cleansing, purification, a ritual purgation or washing
Superior to angels; 2nd Person of the Trinity,
[Heb 1:4 ESV] having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
[Heb 1:5 ESV] For to which of the angels did God ever say, "You are my Son, today I have begotten you"? Or again, "I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son"?
Angels Worship & Serve Him
[Heb 1:6 ESV] And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him."
[Heb 1:7 ESV] Of the angels he says, "He makes his angels winds, and his ministers a flame of fire."
But of the Son!
God, Eternal King, Just, Creator of the Universe, Eternal, Supreme Victor!
Eternal King
[Heb 1:8 ESV] But of the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.
Just King
[Heb 1:9 ESV] You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions."
Creator of the Universe
[Heb 1:10 ESV] And, "You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands;
Eternal
[Heb 1:11 ESV] they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment,
[Heb 1:12 ESV] like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end."
Supreme Victor
[Heb 1:13 ESV] And to which of the angels has he ever said, "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet"?
Angels serve those who will Inherit Salvation.
[Heb 1:14 ESV] Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?
We have got to keep our nose in our Bibles.
[Heb 2:1 ESV] Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.
[Heb 2:2 ESV] For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution,
[Heb 2:3 ESV] how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard,

The Law, The Resurrection, The Gospel

The Second time God gave Moses the 10 Commandments.
[Exo 20:1 ESV] And God spoke all these words, saying,
[Exo 20:2 ESV] "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
[Exo 20:3 ESV] "You shall have no other gods before me.
[Exo 20:4 ESV] "You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
[Exo 20:5 ESV] You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,
[Exo 20:6 ESV] but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.
[Exo 20:7 ESV] "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
[Exo 20:8 ESV] "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
[Exo 20:9 ESV] Six days you shall labor, and do all your work,
[Exo 20:10 ESV] but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates.
[Exo 20:11 ESV] For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
[Exo 20:12 ESV] "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.
[Exo 20:13 ESV] "You shall not murder.
[Exo 20:14 ESV] "You shall not commit adultery.
[Exo 20:15 ESV] "You shall not steal.
[Exo 20:16 ESV] "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
[Exo 20:17 ESV] "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's."
We All Broke The Law.
[Rom 3:9 ESV] What then? Are we Jews any better off? No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin,
[Rom 3:10 ESV] as it is written: "None is righteous, no, not one;
[Rom 3:18 ESV] "There is no fear of God before their eyes."
[Rom 3:19 ESV] Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God.
[Rom 3:20 ESV] For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.
[Rom 6:23 ESV] For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Because we broke God’s Laws, we are enemies of God and He is enemies of us.
Remember God does not owe us Mercy & Grace, He owes us Justice.
Wrath of God
[Jhn 3:36 ESV] Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. Implies pre-condition.
[Rom 1:18 ESV] For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.
[Rom 5:9 ESV] Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
How Can a Righteous God Satisfy His Own Justice?
Send a Sinless Substitute to receive His Wrath in our place.
So God The Father, Sent God The Son.
Sinless Christ
Jesus Did Not Break God’s Law.
[Heb 9:14 ESV] how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
[Heb 4:15 ESV] For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
[1Pe 2:22 ESV] He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth.
[1Jo 3:5 ESV] You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.
Christians are Commanded to tell others.
[2Co 5:18 ESV] All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;
[2Co 5:19 ESV] that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
[2Co 5:20 ESV] Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
[2Co 5:21 ESV] For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Wrath & Reconciliation.
[Rom 5:10 ESV] For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
[Rom 5:11 ESV] More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
The Cross
That is why John the Baptist proclaimed. . . . .
[Jhn 1:29 ESV] The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
The Cross is where Justice & Wrath meet Mercy & Grace.
Gods Wrath, Hate & Anger poured down on His Son.
Who was wearing your sins. And He died.
Paul talks about Resurrection. Antioch in Pisidia.
[Act 13:30 ESV] But God raised him from the dead,
[Act 13:31 ESV] and for many days he appeared to those who had come up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people.
[Act 13:32 ESV] And we bring you the good news that what God promised to the fathers,
[Act 13:33 ESV] this he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus, as also it is written in the second Psalm, "'You are my Son, today I have begotten you.'
[Act 13:34 ESV] And as for the fact that he raised him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, he has spoken in this way, "'I will give you the holy and sure blessings of David.'
[Act 13:35 ESV] Therefore he says also in another psalm, "'You will not let your Holy One see corruption.'
[Act 13:36 ESV] For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep and was laid with his fathers and saw corruption,
[Act 13:37 ESV] but he whom God raised up did not see corruption.
The Resurrection
[Jhn 11:25 ESV] Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,
[Jhn 11:26 ESV] and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?"
[Jhn 11:27 ESV] She said to him, "Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world."
The necessity of the Resurrection
[1Co 15:17 ESV] And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.
[1Co 15:18 ESV] Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
[1Co 15:19 ESV] If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.
[1Co 15:20 ESV] But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
The Resurrection Gives Us Hope!
[Phl 3:8 ESV] Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ
[Phl 3:9 ESV] and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith--
[Phl 3:10 ESV] that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,
[Phl 3:11 ESV] that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.
[Phl 3:12 ESV] Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.
Connection of the death & resurrection for you.
[Rom 6:3 ESV] Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
[Rom 6:4 ESV] We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
[Rom 6:5 ESV] For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
[Rom 6:6 ESV] We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.
[Rom 6:7 ESV] For one who has died has been set free from sin.
[Rom 6:8 ESV] Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.
Never Die Again
[Rom 6:9 ESV] We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.
[Rom 6:10 ESV] For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God.
Never Stop Living In The Gospel
[Rom 6:11 ESV] So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
[Rom 6:14 ESV] For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
[Rom 6:22 ESV] But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.
[Rom 6:23 ESV] For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Law, Grace The Truth
[Jhn 1:17 ESV] For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
Hope because of the resurrection
[1Pe 1:3 ESV] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
[1Pe 1:4 ESV] to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,
[1Pe 1:5 ESV] who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
[1Pe 1:6 ESV] In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,

[Jhn 12:9 ESV] When the large crowd of the Jews learned that Jesus was there, they came, not only on account of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.
[Jhn 12:10 ESV] So the chief priests made plans to put Lazarus to death as well,
[Jhn 12:11 ESV] because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in Jesus.
*That is the true heart of man.
[Jhn 12:12 ESV] The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.
[Jhn 12:13 ESV] So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!"
[Jhn 12:14 ESV] And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written,
[Jhn 12:15 ESV] "Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt!"
Zechariah, The Prophet
[Zec 9:9 ESV] Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
[Zec 9:10 ESV] I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall speak peace to the nations; his rule shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.
[Jhn 12:16 ESV] His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him.
[Jhn 12:17 ESV] The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness.
[Jhn 12:18 ESV] The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign.
[Jhn 12:19 ESV] So the Pharisees said to one another, "You see that you are gaining nothing. Look, the world has gone after him."
Even non-Jews were interested in seeing Jesus.
[Jhn 12:20 ESV] Now among those who went up to worship at the feast were some Greeks.
[Jhn 12:21 ESV] So these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, "Sir, we wish to see Jesus."
[Jhn 12:22 ESV] Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus.
[Jhn 12:23 ESV] And Jesus answered them, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.
Glorified? 1. He proclaims Truth and warns the people. 2. Performs Miracles. 3. Becomes the sacrifice for sin, to satisfy God’s Justice and Wrath.
*It is God’s Holiness, Righteousness, Justice, Sin will be punished with death.
The Wages of sin is death and someone must pay for your evil.
[Jhn 12:24 ESV] Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
[Jhn 12:25 ESV] Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
Look for signs of Sanctification. Do you increase your hate in the way life is so fleeting?
Look at Jesus: This is not a suggestion, but a sobering commandment, that reveals the true nature of your heart.
[Jhn 12:26 ESV] If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
[Jhn 12:27 ESV] "Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? But for this purpose I have come to this hour.
Look at Jesus prayer! Is that your heart’s cry? Isn’t the #1 command to Love God?
[Jhn 12:28 ESV] Father, glorify your name." Then a voice came from heaven: "I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again."
[Jhn 12:29 ESV] The crowd that stood there and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, "An angel has spoken to him."
[Jhn 12:30 ESV] Jesus answered, "This voice has come for your sake, not mine.
[Jhn 12:31 ESV] Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out.
[Jhn 12:32 ESV] And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself."
[Jhn 12:33 ESV] He said this to show by what kind of death he was going to die.
[Jhn 12:34 ESV] So the crowd answered him, "We have heard from the Law that the Christ remains forever. How can you say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?"
Who is this Son of Man?
[Dan 7:13 ESV] "I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him.
[Dan 7:14 ESV] And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.
John 3. “Lifted Up”
[Jhn 3:14 ESV] And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
[Jhn 3:15 ESV] that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.
Jesus Warns the People.
[Jhn 12:35 ESV] So Jesus said to them, "The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.
[Jhn 12:36 ESV] While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light." When Jesus had said these things, he departed and hid himself from them.
The heart of man hates the Creator!
[Jhn 12:37 ESV] Though he had done so many signs before them, they still did not believe in him,
[Jhn 12:38 ESV] so that the word spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: "Lord, who has believed what he heard from us, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"
[Jhn 12:39 ESV] Therefore they could not believe. For again Isaiah said,
[Jhn 12:40 ESV] "He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and turn, and I would heal them."
[Jhn 12:41 ESV] Isaiah said these things because he saw his glory and spoke of him.
Belief without response is still dead.
[Jhn 12:42 ESV] Nevertheless, many even of the authorities believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue;
[Jhn 12:43 ESV] for they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God.
Jesus proclaims He is the way to God!
[Jhn 12:44 ESV] And Jesus cried out and said, "Whoever believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me.
[Jhn 12:45 ESV] And whoever sees me sees him who sent me.
[Jhn 12:46 ESV] I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.
The Word of God; The Bible will judge the world.
[Jhn 12:47 ESV] If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.
[Jhn 12:48 ESV] The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.
[Jhn 12:49 ESV] For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment--what to say and what to speak.
[Jhn 12:50 ESV] And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has told me."
The next time Jesus returns, it will not be on a donkey, but on battle horse.
He will not be killed, but He will do the killing.
[Rev 19:11 ESV] Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.
[Rev 19:12 ESV] His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself.
[Rev 19:13 ESV] He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.
[Rev 19:14 ESV] And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses.
[Rev 19:15 ESV] From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.
Everyone who rejected Jesus, will receive the Wrath of God.
[Rev 19:16 ESV] On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.
The human armies will not win.
[Rev 19:17 ESV] Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he called to all the birds that fly directly overhead, "Come, gather for the great supper of God,
[Rev 19:18 ESV] to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave, both small and great."
[Rev 19:19 ESV] And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to make war against him who was sitting on the horse and against his army.
[Rev 19:20 ESV] And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.
[Rev 19:21 ESV] And the rest were slain by the sword that came from the mouth of him who was sitting on the horse, and all the birds were gorged with their flesh.
The most important decision of your existence is how you respond to Jesus
[Heb 10:26 ESV] For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
[Heb 10:27 ESV] but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries.
You want to be on the winning team.
[Psa 32:10 ESV] Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the LORD.
[Psa 32:11 ESV] Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!

Proverbs 8: Wisdom Before The Beginning
Saturday Apr 05, 2014
Saturday Apr 05, 2014
The Call of Wisdom
[Pro 8:1 ESV] Does not wisdom call? Does not understanding raise her voice?
[Pro 8:2 ESV] On the heights beside the way, at the crossroads she takes her stand;
[Pro 8:3 ESV] beside the gates in front of the town, at the entrance of the portals she cries aloud:
[Pro 8:4 ESV] "To you, O men, I call, and my cry is to the children of man.
The Gospel Calls
[Mat 22:1 ESV] And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying,
[Mat 22:2 ESV] "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son,
[Mat 22:3 ESV] and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come.
[Mat 22:4 ESV] Again he sent other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, "See, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast."'
[Mat 22:5 ESV] But they paid no attention and went off, one to his farm, another to his business,
[Mat 22:6 ESV] while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them.
[Mat 22:7 ESV] The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
[Mat 22:8 ESV] Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy.
[Mat 22:9 ESV] Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.'
[Mat 22:10 ESV] And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests.
[Mat 22:11 ESV] "But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment.
[Mat 22:12 ESV] And he said to him, 'Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?' And he was speechless.
[Mat 22:13 ESV] Then the king said to the attendants, 'Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'
[Mat 22:14 ESV] For many are called, but few are chosen."
Benefit; prudence and sense
[Pro 8:5 ESV] O simple ones, learn prudence; O fools, learn sense.
Only Truth
[Pro 8:6 ESV] Hear, for I will speak noble things, and from my lips will come what is right,
[Pro 8:7 ESV] for my mouth will utter truth; wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
[Pro 8:8 ESV] All the words of my mouth are righteous; there is nothing twisted or crooked in them.
Straight Shoot’n Truth
[Pro 8:9 ESV] They are all straight to him who understands, and right to those who find knowledge.
[Pro 8:10 ESV] Take my instruction instead of silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold,
[Pro 8:11 ESV] for wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her.
We say we value God and His Bible. But how much time, emotion, energy and money to invest in God?
Follow your money and time and that is where your heart truly is.
Prudence, knowledge & discretion
[Pro 8:12 ESV] "I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.
[Pro 8:13 ESV] The fear of the LORD is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.
Do you hate evil? Or are you tolerant of evil?
Counsel, Sound Wisdom, Insight, Strength
[Pro 8:14 ESV] I have counsel and sound wisdom; I have insight; I have strength.
Source of strength. Know & Trust Your Bible.
RC Sproul, quote "its one thing be believe in God and other to believe God”
Wisdom: Sponsored by Wheaties
[Pro 8:15 ESV] By me kings reign, and rulers decree what is just;
[Pro 8:16 ESV] by me princes rule, and nobles, all who govern justly.
Seek Diligently
[Pro 8:17 ESV] I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.
Wealth is with wisdom, but wisdom is more valuable than wealth.
[Pro 8:18 ESV] Riches and honor are with me, enduring wealth and righteousness.
[Pro 8:19 ESV] My fruit is better than gold, even fine gold, and my yield than choice silver.
Wisdom, Righteousness & Justice walk hand and hand.
[Pro 8:20 ESV] I walk in the way of righteousness, in the paths of justice,
[Pro 8:21 ESV] granting an inheritance to those who love me, and filling their treasuries.
Source of Wisdom; God
[Pro 8:22 ESV] "The LORD possessed me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of old.
[Pro 8:23 ESV] Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth.
[Pro 8:24 ESV] When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding with water.
[Pro 8:25 ESV] Before the mountains had been shaped, before the hills, I was brought forth,
[Pro 8:26 ESV] before He had made the earth with its fields, or the first of the dust of the world.
[Pro 8:27 ESV] When He established the heavens, I was there; when He drew a circle on the face of the deep,
[Pro 8:28 ESV] when He made firm the skies above, when He established the fountains of the deep,
[Pro 8:29 ESV] when He assigned to the sea its limit, so that the waters might not transgress his command, when He marked out the foundations of the earth,
[Pro 8:30 ESV] then I was beside Him, like a master workman, and I was daily His delight, rejoicing before Him always,
[Pro 8:31 ESV] rejoicing in His inhabited world and delighting in the children of man.
Life & Favor from the LORD
[Pro 8:32 ESV] "And now, O sons, listen to me: blessed are those who keep my ways.
[Pro 8:33 ESV] Hear instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it.
[Pro 8:34 ESV] Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors.
[Pro 8:35 ESV] For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the LORD,
Love Death
[Pro 8:36 ESV] but he who fails to find me injures himself; all who hate me love death."

Proverbs 7; Keep Truth Intimate
Saturday Mar 15, 2014
Saturday Mar 15, 2014
[Pro 7:1 ESV] My son, keep my words and treasure up my commandments with you;
[Pro 7:2 ESV] keep my commandments and live; keep my teaching as the apple of your eye;
[Pro 7:3 ESV] bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.
[Pro 7:4 ESV] Say to wisdom, "You are my sister," and call insight your intimate friend,
[Pro 7:5 ESV] to keep you from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words.
A young man is more easily lead astray by beauty.
[Pro 7:6 ESV] For at the window of my house I have looked out through my lattice,
[Pro 7:7 ESV] and I have seen among the simple, I have perceived among the youths, a young man lacking sense,
[Pro 7:8 ESV] passing along the street near her corner, taking the road to her house
[Pro 7:9 ESV] in the twilight, in the evening, at the time of night and darkness.
Darkness gives us a sense of security to sin.
[Pro 7:10 ESV] And behold, the woman meets him, dressed as a prostitute, wily of heart.
[Pro 7:11 ESV] She is loud and wayward; her feet do not stay at home;
[Pro 7:12 ESV] now in the street, now in the market, and at every corner she lies in wait.
[Pro 7:13 ESV] She seizes him and kisses him, and with bold face she says to him,
She is religious.
[Pro 7:14 ESV] "I had to offer sacrifices, and today I have paid my vows;
She is a liar. She came out to meet anyone with money.
[Pro 7:15 ESV] so now I have come out to meet you, to seek you eagerly, and I have found you.
[Pro 7:16 ESV] I have spread my couch with coverings, colored linens from Egyptian linen;
[Pro 7:17 ESV] I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
[Pro 7:18 ESV] Come, let us take our fill of love till morning; let us delight ourselves with love.
She is a married woman.
[Pro 7:19 ESV] For my husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey;
[Pro 7:20 ESV] he took a bag of money with him; at full moon he will come home."
The Consequence; Death and hell.
[Pro 7:21 ESV] With much seductive speech she persuades him; with her smooth talk she compels him.
[Pro 7:22 ESV] All at once he follows her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a stag is caught fast
[Pro 7:23 ESV] till an arrow pierces its liver; as a bird rushes into a snare; he does not know that it will cost him his life.
Adultery was a capital offense.
Sexual Immorality is an easy path to hell.
[Pro 7:24 ESV] And now, O sons, listen to me, and be attentive to the words of my mouth.
[Pro 7:25 ESV] Let not your heart turn aside to her ways; do not stray into her paths,
[Pro 7:26 ESV] for many a victim has she laid low, and all her slain are a mighty throng.
[Pro 7:27 ESV] Her house is the way to Sheol, going down to the chambers of death.
A Repentant Prostitute.
[Jos 2:1 NIV] Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim. "Go, look over the land," he said, "especially Jericho." So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there.
[Jos 2:2 NIV] The king of Jericho was told, "Look, some of the Israelites have come here tonight to spy out the land."
[Jos 2:3 NIV] So the king of Jericho sent this message to Rahab: "Bring out the men who came to you and entered your house, because they have come to spy out the whole land."
[Jos 2:4 NIV] But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. She said, "Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they had come from.
In the line of Jesus the King of Heaven.
[Mat 1:5 NIV] Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse,… the father of King David.
In the hall of fame for Faith.
[Hbr 11:31 NIV] By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were disobedient.
James making the point that faith without action is not true faith.
[Jam 2:25 NIV] In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction?
[Jam 2:26 NIV] As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
Perfect time to share the Gospel.
The action does not send you to hell.
Being a sinner condemns you to eternal punishment.
What’s the difference; Condition VS Action.
[Gal 5:19 ESV] Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,
[Gal 5:20 ESV] idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions,
[Gal 5:21 ESV] envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Works of the Spirit.
[Gal 5:22 ESV] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
[Gal 5:23 ESV] gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
[Gal 5:24 ESV] And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
[Gal 5:25 ESV] If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.
It’s not about where you have been, it’s about where you are going.
[Rom 8:1 NIV] Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,
[Rom 8:2 NIV] because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.
[Rom 8:3 NIV] For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh,
[Rom 8:4 NIV] in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Who do you live for? God or yourself?
[Rom 8:5 NIV] Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
[Rom 8:6 NIV] The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
[Rom 8:7 NIV] The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.
[Rom 8:8 NIV] Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

Intimacy
the state of being intimate.
a close, familiar, and usually affectionate or loving personal relationship with another person or group.
These relationships are with each other and God. Love God and People
[Mat 22:36 ESV] "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?"
[Mat 22:37 ESV] And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
[Mat 22:38 ESV] This is the great and first commandment.
[Mat 22:39 ESV] And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
[Mat 22:40 ESV] On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets."
This is the point of the whole Bible.
Remember the #1 Commandment.
[Deu 6:5 ESV] You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
With God:
Emotional Intimacy; Worship, prayer, Bible study, Obedience
Physical Intimacy; not erotic, but as a living sacrifice. Wear our-selves out obeying.
[Phl 2:17 ESV] Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.
[Phl 2:18 ESV] Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me.
[Ecc 5:12 ESV] Sweet is the sleep of a laborer, whether he eats little or much, but the full stomach of the rich will not let him sleep.
Spiritual Intimacy; obedience, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
[Jhn 16:7 ESV] Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
[Jhn 16:8 ESV] And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment:
[Jhn 16:9 ESV] concerning sin, because they do not believe in me;
[Jhn 16:10 ESV] concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer;
[Jhn 16:11 ESV] concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
[2Cr 1:21 ESV] And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us,
[2Cr 1:22 ESV] and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
Intellectual: Bible Study and Obedience, Science There is no such thing as blind faith.
Isaiah when exhorting Israel to repent of evil, says the following.
[Isa 1:3 ESV] The ox knows its owner, and the donkey its master's crib, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand."
[Isa 1:4 ESV] Ah, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken the LORD, they have despised the Holy One of Israel, they are utterly estranged.
[Isa 1:18 ESV] "Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.
With People. Intimacy has moral laws to guide the depth of intimacy.
Emotional Intimacy;
[Rom 12:15 ESV] Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.
Physical Intimacy; two levels, not erotic and erotic.
Non-erotic:
Paul teaches Timothy: [1Ti 5:2 ESV] older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, in all purity.
We will discuss the erotic with Proverbs 5.
Spiritual Intimacy; Fellowship, prayer
Intellectual: Talking. Working through issues.
These four intimacies are Interdependent. They are connected.
When you go deeper with one, it effects all the others.
As humans, this is what real love looks like.
An exhortation to listen
[Pro 5:1 ESV] My son, be attentive to my wisdom; incline your ear to my understanding,
[Pro 5:2 ESV] that you may keep discretion, and your lips may guard knowledge.
Avoid the easy woman.
[Pro 5:3 ESV] For the lips of a forbidden woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil,
[Pro 5:4 ESV] but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
[Pro 5:5 ESV] Her feet go down to death; her steps follow the path to Sheol;
[Pro 5:6 ESV] she does not ponder the path of life; her ways wander, and she does not know it.
Exhortation to listen
[Pro 5:7 ESV] And now, O sons, listen to me, and do not depart from the words of my mouth.
[Pro 5:8 ESV] Keep your way far from her, and do not go near the door of her house,
Consequence of adultery (premarital physical intimacy is adultery)
[Pro 5:9 ESV] lest you give your honor to others and your years to the merciless,
[Pro 5:10 ESV] lest strangers take their fill of your strength, and your labors go to the house of a foreigner,
Sinners eat their own.
Gossip, Slander, Hypocrisy (although they do it to, you will be used as their smoke screen)
How many pastors and priests have fallen to sexual immorality?
**Youth ministry leadership training.
Un-repented guilt leads to hatred of God & His rules.
[Pro 5:11 ESV] and at the end of your life you groan, when your flesh and body are consumed,
[Pro 5:12 ESV] and you say, "How I hated discipline, and my heart despised reproof!
[Pro 5:13 ESV] I did not listen to the voice of my teachers or incline my ear to my instructors.
[Pro 5:14 ESV] I am at the brink of utter ruin in the assembled congregation."
** These are the perpetual victim people. It’s never their own fault.
Stay faithful to your spouse
[Pro 5:15 ESV] Drink water from your own cistern, flowing water from your own well.
[Pro 5:16 ESV] Should your springs be scattered abroad, streams of water in the streets?
[Pro 5:17 ESV] Let them be for yourself alone, and not for strangers with you.
[Pro 5:18 ESV] Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth,
[Pro 5:19 ESV] a lovely deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight; be intoxicated always in her love.
God designed physical intimacy. It is for His Glory. Song of Solomon is a celebration of physical intimacy and passion. It is not an allegory of Christ.
[Pro 5:20 ESV] Why should you be intoxicated, my son, with a forbidden woman and embrace the bosom of an adulteress?
God knows what you are thinking
[Pro 5:21 ESV] For a man's ways are before the eyes of the LORD, and he ponders all his paths.
[Pro 5:22 ESV] The iniquities of the wicked ensnare him, and he is held fast in the cords of his sin.
[Pro 5:23 ESV] He dies for lack of discipline, and because of his great folly he is led astray.
Whoopi
[Mat 5:28 ESV] But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Everybody is guilty,
Sin is the great equalizer. It puts everyone on a level playing field.
[Job 31:1 NIV] "I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman.
God says, Rules for erotic physical intimacy are the following:
marriage covenant required. one adult man, one adult woman
The world says, no covenant required, gender doesn’t matter, number doesn’t matter, age does not matter. And coming soon, humans do not matter.
David prays an incredible prayer of intimacy to God.
[Psa 139:23 NIV] Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
[Psa 139:24 NIV] See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Proverbs 4, Wisdom VS Popular Immorality
Saturday Feb 15, 2014
Saturday Feb 15, 2014
The Setting:
[Pro 4:1 ESV] Hear, O sons, a father's instruction, and be attentive, that you may gain insight,
[Pro 4:2 ESV] for I give you good precepts; do not forsake my teaching.
[Pro 4:3 ESV] When I was a son with my father, tender, the only one in the sight of my mother,
[Pro 4:4 ESV] he taught me and said to me,
"Let your heart hold fast my words; keep my commandments, and live.
[Pro 4:5 ESV] Get wisdom; get insight; do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth.
[Pro 4:6 ESV] Do not forsake her, and she will keep you; love her, and she will guard you.
Do not turn away: Even in this town of limited choices, evil is the easiest choice.
As long as you avoid church, avoid fellowship, avoid the teaching of Bible and don’t study yourself; Evil wins in you.
[Pro 4:7 ESV] The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.
[Pro 4:7 NASB] "The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; And with all your acquiring, get understanding.
Acquire; buy, invest, collect.
Benefits of Wisdom
[Pro 4:8 ESV] Prize her highly, and she will exalt you; she will honor you if you embrace her.
[Pro 4:9 ESV] She will place on your head a graceful garland; she will bestow on you a beautiful crown."
Garland, crown. Wisdom becomes visible on you, it is personal but not private.
Wisdom adds to your self-worth. **carefully** Our self-worth comes from Christ alone, not apart from Christ. But that is the beginning of Wisdom.
Exhortation
[Pro 4:10 ESV] Hear, my son, and accept my words, that the years of your life may be many.
[Pro 4:11 ESV] I have taught you the way of wisdom; I have led you in the paths of uprightness.
Benefit
[Pro 4:12 ESV] When you walk, your step will not be hampered, and if you run, you will not stumble.
Exhortation;
[Pro 4:13 ESV] Keep hold of instruction; do not let go; guard her, for she is your life.
Remember how Wisdom is leveraging other people’s pain for your gain?
Wickedness is popular but it’s evil. Yes, everyone is doing it.
That is a really good indicator that something is evil.
[Pro 4:14 ESV] Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of the evil.
[Pro 4:15 ESV] Avoid it; do not go on it; turn away from it and pass on.
[Pro 4:16 ESV] For they cannot sleep unless they have done wrong; they are robbed of sleep unless they have made someone stumble.
Concerning people who reject God
[Rom 1:32 ESV] Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.
Such Things. . . . .
[Rom 1:28 ESV] And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
[Rom 1:29 ESV] They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,
[Rom 1:30 ESV] slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,
[Rom 1:31 ESV] foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.
When you reject God & His Wisdom; He gives you just what you wanted, plus more!
[Rom 1:16 ESV] For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
[Rom 1:17 ESV] For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, "The righteous shall live by faith."
[Rom 1:22 ESV] Claiming to be wise, they became fools,
[Rom 1:23 ESV] and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
[Rom 1:24 ESV] Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves,
[Rom 1:25 ESV] because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
[Rom 1:26 ESV] For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature;
[Rom 1:27 ESV] and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
Repent means to turn away from and pursue a new way. The way of Jesus.
Jesus talks about our physical and spiritual death, without repentance.
[Luk 13:1 ESV] There were some present at that very time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
[Luk 13:2 ESV] And he answered them, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way?
[Luk 13:3 ESV] No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.
[Luk 13:4 ESV] Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem?
[Luk 13:5 ESV] No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish."
The Unrepentant
[Pro 4:17 ESV] For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.
Compare and Contrast. Righteous VS wicked.
The journey of the Bible is amazing! Miracles, Missions and life to the fullest.
[Pro 4:18 ESV] But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.
[Pro 4:19 ESV] The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.
Put your back into it.
[Pro 4:20 ESV] My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.
[Pro 4:21 ESV] Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart.
Benefit
[Pro 4:22 ESV] For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh.
What to keep and what to throw out.
[Pro 4:23 ESV] Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.
[Pro 4:24 ESV] Put away from you crooked speech, and put devious talk far from you.
[Pro 4:25 ESV] Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.
[Pro 4:26 ESV] Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure.
[Pro 4:27 ESV] Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.
[Mat 7:13 ESV] "Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.
[Mat 7:14 ESV] For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
